Vertical ("we", "us", or "the app") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Vertical, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a username you choose. Your password is handled securely by our authentication provider and is never stored in plain text.

Content you provide

Questions you ask BibleChat, the spiritual struggles and growth areas you select during onboarding, journal entries, and bookmarks. Journal entries and bookmarks are stored on your device.

Usage data

We keep a per-day count of AI feature usage tied to your account in order to enforce fair-use limits.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to create and personalize your reading plan, power BibleChat and other AI features, maintain fair-use limits, operate and improve the app, and respond to support requests. We do not sell your personal information.

AI Features

When you use BibleChat or other AI-powered features, the text you submit is sent to our backend and to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. Please do not share sensitive personal information in your messages. AI responses are generated automatically and may not always be accurate.

Data Storage & Third Parties

We use Supabase for authentication and backend services, Anthropic for AI responses, and RevenueCat together with Apple for subscription management. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services. Reading plans, journal entries, and bookmarks are primarily stored locally on your device.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and associated server-side data, and clears app data stored on your device. This action cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

Vertical is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
